In November 2008 WALGA engaged the expertise of ICON to prepare the study of the participating Councils which included benchmarking of business processes, design of feasible solutions and explanation of how eDAIS will work in Western Australia within the Development Assessment framework.

Through funding from the Australian Government, WALGA in partnership with Department of Planning (WA), and ten high growth councils, commissioned an independent report to identify a preferred solution for the introduction of a state-wide electronic Development Assessment system for WA Local Government.

The study comprised of three parts:

  • A review of DA business processes
  • Recommended solution
  • Benchmarking and continuous improvement

The report identified a three year program for development and implementation of eDA in Local Government in WA.

ICON presented the findings to the WALGA Executive , participating Councils and CEO’s in November 2009. The findings were well received and the group was excited about the future of eDA in Western Australia.
